ADVANTAGES OF “BOUNCERS” OVER TRADITIONAL BASKETBALL PROGRAMS

1. Whereas, in most basketball leagues ten children share one ball during the course of the game, “BOUNCERS” allows each child to participate with their own ball. This is extremely important for beginning children. It promotes participation and improves skill and confidence.

2. “BOUNCERS” allows children to progress at their own pace. Children with greater skill are allowed to move on to more difficult tasks and children with lesser skills are allowed to progress at a slower pace without feeling left out.

3. The number of volunteers needed to run a “BOUNCERS” program is far less than that of traditional basketball leagues and programs. Approximately 3-4 volunteers are needed to successfully run a program of 50 children.

4. The number of hours and the amount of gym space is far less than that of traditional basketball programs. “BOUNCERS” meet to practice one hour a week and one full court gym floor can accommodate up to 50 children at one time.
